Description

The Durham Arts Council (DAC) is dedicated to supporting the arts in Durham and the entire Triangle Region of North Carolina, having served the community since 1954. The DAC offers two educational programs ideal for homeschool families through the DAC School and the Creative Arts in Public/Private Schools & Communities (CAPS) program.

  • The DAC School offers classes, workshops, and camps throughout the year for all ages and across all art modalities, including visual arts, music and dance, theatre, literary arts, and more. Scholarships are available based on financial need.
  • The CAPS program brings teaching artists to schools and other community spaces for residencies, workshops, and performances integrating creative learning to core curriculum and community interests.

Additionally, the DAC offers support to local artists and cultural organizations through grant programs, exhibits of local artists' work in our onsite gallery spaces, facility space for event rentals for both private and public events, arts advocacy and creative placemaking work, and produces favorite community celebrations, including CenterFest and the Durham Holiday Art Walk Market.
